Red Ride Resounds Boisterous and Prismic

All the colours of music are folded together in a raging tour with NO surge protection that has ricocheted this past month across the country.

Magnetically drawing local performers into their rainbow cyclone. Kristi Lane Sinclair's fifth annual troupe of travellers this year includes a band fronted by multi-Juno winner Derek Miller and flanked by the passionate cellist Cris Derksen

New Torontonian Christa Couture joined the Ride as
they blew up Toronto's Monarch Tavern last night. They will be  moving along to Peterborough Saturday and Ottawa Wednesday, then Montreal and New York. Kristi`s startlingly ominous new record, DARK MATTER will be along shortly. Free sampler disks are yours for the cost of a paid admission.
Thunder on Riders; Ready, Aim, Fire!!!!

"Love Is All. Lights Go On" ~ Rosemary Phelan

Today, the colour line is the power line, is the poverty line
Racism and imperialism work in tandem
And poverty is their handmaid

Those who are poor and powerless to break out of their poverty
Are also those who by and large are non-white, non-western, third world
Poverty and powerlessness are intertwined in color, in race
Discrimination and exploitation feed into each other today
Under global capitalism

We are back to primitive accumulation, plunder on a world scale
Only this time, the pillage is accompanied by aid
Sustained by expert advice and underpinned by programmes
And policies that perpetuate dependency
The IMF, the world bank, structural adjustment programmes
General agreement on tariffs and trade, gatt
Are just a few of the organizations, schemes, projects
Which under the guise of developing the third world, plunder it

Trade agreements and commodity price-fixing
Patents and intellectual property rights
They lock them into paralytic dependency
There is no such thing as illegal immigrants
Only illegal governments

Black is not just the colour of our skins
It's the colour of our politics
There is no such thing as illegal immigrants
Only illegal governments
Today, the colour line is the power line, is the poverty line

Mutineers and Red Riders Converging Upon Outpost Tarranna

Be locked onto the Orbital trajectory at around 6  p.m. today. If they can maintain an even keel without their traditional dark ale anchorage, we'll enjoy a live performance by Pressgang Mutiny, of shanties and seafarers' laments.

I'm also expecting telephone transmissions from Christa Couture on The Red Ride tour, which scorched through Saskatoon last night in an unflagging approaching to a show at the Monarch Tavern this coming Thursday, 28th of May. They are also at The Garnet in Peterborough on Saturday May 30th.

The phone line and entry bay transporter will be left open for possible surprise guests, unconfirmed for now. Only one way to find out who. Be up for it.

CMW All Turnt Out

" This is a song about that feeling you get ... when you're feeling that feeling." The mighty JUMA made The Buddha Smile and presented his considerations of affection, strength, and victory.

Everglow's energy brought the ladies' level up several degrees and created a magnetic field on the dance floor. First jam off the Rock.

Kevin Hearn and Thin BuckleCosmic drift, heliocentric dynamics, imaginary maps.

Lydia Persaud , fronting a squadron of  precision funksters,  The Soul Motivators, greased the axle of a wildly spinning Saturday night and closed off an unconventional convention and a particularly perfect party.

*"Don't Forget Your Mother" recorded back in 1973 in Montreal with quite a cast of characters including members of Frank Zappa’s Mothers, Tom “Bones” Malone (David Letterman Show Band, Blues Brothers) and legendary drummer Jim Gordon, who had just finished touring and recording with Derek and The Dominoes (Eric Clapton). He is best known for writing (and playing) the piano part in “Layla” but later killed his mother in a psychotic episode. He remains to this day incarcerated in an institution for the criminally insane. The session was produced by André Perry and Frazier Mohawk, engineered by Nick Blagona wth Musical Director, John Lissauer. Over-the-top production with a string section from the Montreal Symphony, a boys choir from an exclusive private school and vocalist extraordinaire, Beverly Glenn Copeland. It was recorded for Good Noise/Polydor Records but never released  (the B-side, “Story of the Magic Pick” was released in 1974)
